Curlew was built for an Admiral around 300 years ago, when there were no other houses in Garrett Street, in its superb location overhanging the beach. He had obviously fallen in love with the place, as the title deeds stipulated that he be rowed in a longboat to his work at Plymouth Dockyard, a risky journey in those days. Now newly refurbished, just off the central square, Curlew Cottage is the ideal self-catering option for up to 8 + 2 people in a style to suit today's sea-lovers! There are 4 bedrooms on 3 levels plus one living room with sofabed, an open-plan kitchen/dining room, bathrooms with WCs (one en-suite), one separate wet-room shower and an extra cloakroom WC on the ground floor. There is a sea view on every floor, most dramatically from the romantic loft bedroom. The 3 oven Aga range cooker makes cooking really easy, but for times when you don't want to cook, there are are two great cafe choices as well as child-friendly pubs moments away. The water is heated by solar panels (with conventional energy back-up) and the central heating draws on solar power as well. Although there is no parking space at the cottage, you can unload at the front door and the car-park is only about 100 metres away. It's also a great choice for a car-free holiday, with the Cawsand Ferry taking you from Plymouth Barbican pretty much to the door!
Reviews: "We had a fantastic stay, and the home is presented to really high standard - very comfortable and it feels warm and homely. Very welcoming and the most amazing views to boot. Furniture is very comfortable, especially the beds". Rob, Bristol, April 2016

How to get to us |
By car.. Garrett St is narrow and only allows one car to pass, but people allow you a few minutes' unloading time. A transit van can get through. You need to approach it via Kingsand, although the cottage is just up from Cawsand Square. Park in Cawsand car park. Or if you are without car - take train to Plymouth and Cawsand Ferry from the Barbican pretty much to the door! |
